We've used John's for a few years now for sprinkler blow outs in the fall. The first two years they did not leave the plastic piece that we needed to be able to turn the sprinklers back on in spring. The first year we just went and bought it. The second year I called and complained and they sent someone out with several which I now have stashed in my drawer. They are on the high end of pricing for sprinkler blow outs in Billings area, and the price goes up pretty consistently year over year -- I get it, inflation comes for us all. What really lowers my opinion of the business though, is that last year, they started wanting payment upfront. Absolutely fine, not a problem- a heads up when making the appt would have been nice- but again I totally understand this, however the employee could only accept cash or check. I am well into my 40's and I couldn't locate my checkbook if I tried. NONE of my bills are paid that way, and I don't typically just have $100 laying around when I haven't been given advanced notice that this is going to be the only available payment method. It worked out fine, the employee was able to call the boss who was able to take a debit payment. This year I had completely forgotten about that snafu when they showed up and then remember oh no, I didn't get cash and you can't take a card, but they assured me I could pay online. Great! Except that they are now charging a 3.5% fee for any debit/credit payments. So $105 just became $108 and some change.I have a hard time understanding how a company can be charging the high end of pricing for services, and be having such a thin profit margin that they need to be passing their processing fees on to customers for paying using the MOST COMMON form of payment. To me accepting debit should be considered part of the cost of doing business, and if you cannot fit that within your profit margin than you need to alter something- your budget or your price. As an update due to the owners response: I will note a few more things, as to the record of on time vs not bill payment a large part of this is the ability of the office to get a correct bill out to the customer, if I remember correctly they somehow ended up with my husband under two accounts due to misspelling his name or something like that? which meant we paid the bill, and yet were still receiving bills to pay. The fact that the the owner feels the need to respond defensively and insultingly to ANY review that is not 5 stars tells you everything you need to know about the company. I had left 3 stars- that is not the end of the world, its a realistic review, and the response is to come and say that we don't pay our bill? wow. The owner does seem to love to get the last word, with every review, every time, and I am sure that discourages plenty of people from leaving accurate reviews for fear that the owner is going to smear them as a person in a public forum. Wild. I take back the 3 stars, don't pay a premium price for a mediocre service with a bad attitude, go somewhere else.
2024.....$95 sprinkler blowout for 3 zones2025.....$105 sprinkler blowout for 3 zones..... (dude was talking about how he had 2 systems freeze last year because they weren't blown out long enough)Everybody else in town is charging around $70-$80 for 3 zones.. You guys are overcharging your customers! At some point your customers are going to become your former customers, like me!
Very pleased with their service. All that I wanted was a large area of unirrigated lawn on 1/2 acre aerated. Due to work schedule, I knew I wouldn't be able to be there. Their scheduler got on an app and was able to see the area of lawn around my home, and give me an estimate, we worked out payment. I was at work the day they came. When I got home I saw they aerated every square inch I'd asked, at a more than fair price. I haven't been able to water my yard since they came last week, but ALL of the grass perked up and greened up in the meantime. Very happy with service, and will definitely use them again!
Hired them to hydroseed my yard. They put down the seed and it never grew. They still expected payment in full! I will never use them again.I did have you do other landscaping items for my house which turned out well. The main reason for calling you was to get a lawn. You tried to charge me more for than the bid even when the hydroseed never came in! Unbelievable that you would leave a customers lawn in the pictured condition.
Horrible service for tree and shrub trimming as well as sprinkler repair. The 2 trimming guys had no idea what they were doing. They butchered my shrubs and left the trimmings in the shrubs as well as several dead branches that I asked them to cut off. The branches they actually trimmed were randomly cut in the center instead of back to the trunk. When asked to remove the dead branches off my apple tree that has fire blight, they said they were not qualified @ $86 an hour. This cost me $510. When I complained and had them come back they charged me an additional $226.10. I have never paid over $250 for twice as much work. My neighbor saw their and unfortunately hired them. She was just as unhappy and they also cut in to her drip system. The sprinkler repair was just as bad if not worse. I asked them to align some rotary heads and replace any popup heads that were needed, to make adjustments to compensate for whatever brown grass they saw. The 2 rotary heads I specifically asked them to align weren't done but they did replace and charge me for several rotary heads that were working well and I did not authorize. Not only did they not correct for all the brown grass, I now have several new ares that are not getting water and the grass is dying. They also put in an addition rotary head were there was no problem and there is an underground leak that is so bad that I had to turn off the water to the entire sprinkler system. There are also 2 popup heads that have some kind of break in them and a third that appears plugged. When calling them today, at 652-8985, the call says it can not go through.
